Collective Architecture Employee Ownership

Jude is a co-founding director of the 50-strong team at Collective Architecture and was closely involved in the transition to Employee Ownership in 2007.

The 100% employee-owned and controlled studio is founded on principles of creative freedom, equity and sustainability.  Together, the team has delivered several key residential, civic and cultural projects around the UK including Barmulloch Residents’ Centre (AJ Public Building of the Year 2018), Glasgow Women’s Library, Anderson Regeneration, Paisley Secret Collection and the City Observatory on Calton Hill, Edinburgh (RIBA Award 2019).  The practice was named Architect of the Year at the UK-wide 2018 AJ Awards.

With fellow directors Chris Stewart and Gerry Duffy, Jude led many of the early discussions around Employee Ownership (EO) and continues to be involved in promoting the values of EO of openness, transparency, trust and empowerment.

She prompted the development of the ‘Vision and Values’ document and this is now embedded in the companies operation as a core element of Collective Architecture’s Deed of Trust.

Jude was interviewed by Agile City on Collective Architecture’s governance and this can be viewed at the link below:
