Glasgow Women's Library

Glasgow Women’s Library is the only Accredited Museum in the UK dedicated to women’s lives, histories and achievements, with a lending libraryarchive collections and innovative programmes of public events & learning opportunities.

Collective Architecture were appointed in 2012 to design GWL’s new home as they moved across from the Mitchel Library in the centre of Glasgow to the former Bridgeton Library in the east end. This required substantial refurbishment of the building to accommodate new features. Including a climatically controlled archive, events space, offices and an external lift tower that would provide disabled access to the upper floors. Jude was closely involved, attending the early design workshops and presenting to the client team.

In 2016 Jude Barber joined Board of Glasgow Women’s Library, a role that she enjoys immensely. She is part of the tight-knit team that meets once a quarter to discuss the range of issues that allows GWL to continue in their excellent work.
